Carved Teak Slab with Bears Under a Tree, Live Edge, 45 x 35 Inches

This carving is cut from a single slab of teak and measures 45 x 35 inches. A group of dark bears is carved into a scene beneath a tree, with branches and leaves in openwork above them. The wood is a pale golden tone, and the outline follows the natural, irregular live edge of the slab, so no two are alike.

Skilled carvers in northern Thailand work teak from the forests there, using techniques passed down through families. A large piece like this hangs well over a sofa, a bed or a mantel, and should be fixed to the wall with heavy-duty hardware because of its size. Dust with a soft brush.
